Given an x-intercept : $(x_1,0)$ and a slope m, we can express the line as $f(x)=m(x-x_1)$

• I want you to carefully observe the similarities between the Point-Slope Form and the Root-Form.
• While this definition is not used in many contemporary math textbooks(as its trivial for lines), I want to emphasize the importance of it, especially when we observe more complex functions. This becomes the building block to our study of finding roots to polynomials!

• Suppose our slope $m=1$ and out x-intercept is at $x=-1$, then our function looks like $f(x)=2(x+1)$
