Lines : Slope-Intercept and Point-Slope Forms

Lines (or more formally, 1st degree polynomials) are the first polynomials you will explore. The usefulness of lines are the ability to allow use to connect to points in space! Below, you will discover all the ways to write out the equation of a line:

  • A line is a 1st degree polynomial of the following forms:

Def 5) Slope

  • The slope of a line refers to the coefficient in front of the x. The slope is more commonly used with the letter “m” but is also used with the letter “a”
